We are in the midst of the harvest season and, in Vermont, already putting the gardens to bed in anticipation of snow. Yes, snow is forecast for next week. Just flurries, but… you know….. SNOW! The cycle of change keeps on churning and while we are still rooting through the t-shirts to find an appropriate sweater, winter approaches.
Change is part of the reason we moved to Vermont; a change of culture, change of careers, the change of the seasons… and the flexibility to change is a huge part of owning a small business. You start out with a dream and put all your cards on the table and hope that you have enough out there to attract a wide range of clientele. Then you start to look at all of your work and some things just don’t measure up to your expectations, some weeding occurs and once again you stand behind your product and beam at the world. And then you start to experience some growth and there it is again, change. As in any healthy garden, you find there are things getting leggy or top heavy, some choices you made are just incongruous when you really examine the long view. Out come the pruning shears! Just because something isn’t working, doesn’t make it any easier to take it away. But to exercise this metaphor just a bit further, it doesn’t mean those seeds can’t be replanted elsewhere either.
What in the world am I talking about? Arcadia Park Designs is making some changes in our lines.

Bluze capsules are now getting the medicine with the lowest cost. We have been very fortunate to be getting some wonderful media attention and it has become very clear what people are most interested in seeing from us! It has helped us hone our line and focus on the work that sparks the imagination of others as well as to concentrate on the work that most lives up to our motto…timeless artistry. One of the ways that we are moving forward is that we are discontinuing the De Architectura line as it has existed, although some of our most beloved imagery will reappear in new ways in the 2016 and 2017 collections. The foundation images in the In the Details Collection will be showing up in luxurious silks and in seasonally inspired colors and the seasonal collections will rotate off the website. Right now we are showing the winter Champagne on Ice collection of pillows in gold and silver. In November we will be introducing the Spring 2016 line and the website will feature that work. All of the current work will be on the website until the end of 2015 but then, we bid adieu to the way things were and hello hello to the way things will be! Intentional change is good… often hard, sometimes confusing, hopefully clarifying and affirming … vive la change!
We would like to thank Grandparents Magazine (Grandparents.com) for featuring our Acanthus II pillows in Chile and Cocoa in their Grand Giveaway this month. Our Victory Pillow, in honor of those that have fought breast cancer, is being featured on a number of television programs during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We owe a debt of gratitude to KTLA Los Angeles, KWGN Denver, WSLS Roanoke, KTXL Sacramento, Chicago Now and NBC NY with Francesco Bilotto for their dedication to honoring this cause and for featuring our Victory pillow. 50% of the proceeds from the sales of these pillows will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in NYC. With this donation we honor Judy, Jan and Karol and everyone else who is fighting the disease and for the cure.
Also it is important to say THANK YOU Jennifer Uy at ChicExecs for all of your hard work on our behalf. [tweetthis]It isnt enough to have ideas and make the work – someone has to get the word out! [/tweetthis] – and as far as we are concerned, that is the hard part!
