Spring & New Directions

It has been awhile since I have posted any news and it isn’t because there hasn’t been any, it is because there is so much going on I really don’t know where to begin. We loved the Chicago One of a Kind Holiday Show. It was so much fun and we met the most lovely people. So we decided to do the Spring show too! It is coming up fast, at the end of April, and the studio is humming with new ideas, new prints and sewing things up into gorgeous pillows. Everything feels so fresh, so new, so promising!
If you have been following me for awhile, you probably know all about Atelier Annex and all the hard work Harry and I have put into our gallery and online store over the years. Last year I decided I needed to be more focused on Arcadia Park Designs and so I started wishing and hoping that we could find someone to work with, someone to take over the running of Atelier Annex – someone to be the Director and take it to the next level, helping artisans with PR, marketing and sales. And along came Christine.
Christine Fugate is an amazing person who has all the qualities one could hope for when handing someone your precious “baby.” She loves artisanal work, she writes, she is organized and dedicated and smart and funny…. I adore her, can you tell? So Atelier Annex is off and running in new directions and I am in the studio where I belong.

Of course our line is represented, but also ceramics, a gorgeous throw sourced in the west of Ireland, beautiful items for kitchen and table and the lines of cards and prints we always had at the gallery. Atelier Annex will always be close to my heart and I will remain the curator and the janitor for the foreseeable future.
I don’t often give away my secrets, but I have to give a shout out to the two places I get the silks for the backs of my pillows. For one of a kind, prototype and specialty pillows I run down to Brattleboro VT and spend an hour or two at Delectable Mountain. Jan, who owns the store has created a magical place, truly something out of a tale by J K Rowling. She and the women that work in the store have a deep understanding and love of silk and amazing stories that keep me going back time and again.
My other source for my Dupioni is JRB Silks. They are a to the trade only resource but their high quality silks come in an astounding array of colors and at some of the best pricing I have seen. If you have a company and are looking for fair pricing accompanied by quality silk, look them up. And if you mention I sent you, I think I get a little bonus on my next order ; )
